The use of electric fields in tissue engineering

What is a human being? What is life? Can science give us reliable answers to such questions? The electricity of life. The meaning of human consciousness. Are we alone? Are the traditional contests between science and religion still relevant? Does the word "spirit" still hold meaning today?

This seems like such a daunting field to approach as their is so much to consider. The integration of the fields of biology and electrophysics could require a complete mastery of each of them, while my biology is very very weak.

Are there something like a basic rule suite to explain rudimentary electrobiological principles to start on?

It has some VERY interesting & far reaching implications....
If I'm not mistaken, the alteration of the EM conditions (specifically E-fields) is John Fallon & Matthew Harris "dinosaur-ized" those chicken embryo and got them to start growing hen's teeth, hand claws and long stiff bony tails.

`
NASA's 'Electric Bandage'
The new material generates a small amount of electricity when interacting with another surface, including human skin.

The material, called polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) has numerous possible applications, including wound healing.

The thunderbolts project has provided some interesting videos on the electricity of life, presented by Alex Fournier. In one of these presentations he talks about the regeneration of tissue, using voltage gradients. This has already been done on some animals e.g. growing a new eye in the stomach or the tail of a tadpole. This of course has tremendous possibilities in the future, for badly injured people. Although he doesn't go into a lot of technical detail, Alex points out that we are at the very beginning of understanding the effects of electricity in the body.
