IMO sustained nuclear fission is an imposibility in a gravity driven world. Only from electrical processes that are part of the very fabric of the universe does any hope of unlimited power sources arise. I believe they know this as well, and current theory keeps research in this area to a minimum.

Not at all. The Higgs is a temporary, unstable cloud of strings possibly divisible into two relatively stable photons.
If the Higgs was something much smaller and possibly an electrical part of for example a photon, it would be much more interesting and closer to the essence of the Electric Universe.
