This is thermal image of the area, note the evidence of something hot moveing east;

Re: Quake Prediction 2010
There was an earthquake last night in Oklahoma. It was between Ada and McAlester, about 2 hours SE of the area slightly to the east of Oklahoma City where so many EQs have been this year and last year.
At about the same time, my cell phone got into a peculiar condition that was unlike any I had ever seen. I had to remove and replace the battery to get control of it again.
It was about 3 hours after that storm spike on the K index chart.
Do those plasmoids ever enter the atmosphere at locations other than the Indian Ocean?

Hi,
Did you look at the K index 13 days ago?
Right on time. My data indicates it takes ~13 days for a plasmoid to reach Oklahoma's longitude.

Tom,
No greater than background CA quake based on the Plasma from the 5th - 8th though we still have 1 or two more days. I think your hypothesis is good, but tracking the plamsa (And perhaps calling it a plasmoid) may be in error. Why would it now flow through the EARTH itself - why is it relegated to the atmosphere? Perhaps we should look at the magnetic field lines through the earth itself and look at the location that way.
Perhaps the warm fronts are misleading. Lightning may not be - it can be an expression of excess surface or under surface charge being bled off.
What do you think?

Hi,
If the plasma does indeed carry a component of the solar magnetic field, it would move in a polarized way.

Tom,
I've been looking at how the planetary K index is assembled. It's a mean value of a lot of different monitoring stations around the world. I can't find a source for the raw numbers that make up the Planetary K index, however, if we could get at this data we could perhaps better tell the actual entry point of the plasma.

A good starting point is here;
http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/sc ... ticcracks/
Cracks in Earth's Magnetic Shield
Immense cracks in our planet's magnetic field can remain open for hours, allowing the solar wind to gush through and power stormy space weather.
Then of course there are the FTE's;This stream of solar wind ions bombarded our atmosphere in precisely the same region where IMAGE saw the proton aurora. The fact that IMAGE was able to view the proton aurora for more than 9 hours implies that the crack remained continuously open. Researchers estimate that the crack was twice the size of Earth at the boundary of our magnetic shield--about 38,000 miles (60,000 km) above the planet's surface. Since the magnetic field converges as it enters the Earth in the polar regions, the crack narrowed to about the size of California down near the upper atmosphere.

Magnetic Portals Connect Earth to the Sun Oct. 30, 2008: During the time it takes you to read this article, something will happen high overhead that until recently many scientists didn't believe in. A magnetic portal will open, linking Earth to the sun 93 million miles away. Tons of high-energy particles may flow through the opening before it closes again, around the time you reach the end of the page.

Re: Quake Prediction 2010
Hello,
Well the episode of early April did not follow the pattern I noted.
I expected a large quake on the US west coast in mid April, but there were just many smaller ones (~3.1 mag).
I supposed there needs to be a snag in tectonic plate movement and then a sudden release of stored energy as the snag breaks or shifts.
It is nowhere near 100% yet.

I am not sure how you are coming up with the locations, but I seem to recall a large quake in Soma with what I thought was the correct timing from the early April event. Perhaps the energy dissipated before the location you selected?

Well, the May 2 storm shortly preceded > 6.0 quakes in Japan and Chile. I'm not convinced that the "movement" or "entry points" are proper. Props to Tom for his research in this and I do believe he is on to something.

Since the May 2 storm was so L-O-N-G, perhaps the planet endured its "entry" along along more than half of its circumference.
Must have been a really big plasmoid, eh?

Re: Quake Prediction 2010
I've had a slight, annoying ringing in my ears for the past couple of days. When I lived in the midwest that would occasionally happen before and during strong thunderstorms but only last for the duration of the storm. The timing does correspond with the spike in geomagnetic activity a couple of days ago but since I'm living in Oregon now I wonder if it might be an indication of a coming earthquake.

Well, I'M certainly hoping not, up here in Olympia and 50 miles W of Mount Rainier!
