PAGODA

Beyond the boundaries of established science an avalanche of exotic ideas compete for our attention. Experts tell us that these ideas should not be permitted to take up the time of working scientists, and for the most part they are surely correct. But what about the gems in the rubble pile? By what ground-rules might we bring extraordinary new possibilities to light?

PAGODA

Unread post by smartart » Wed Oct 22, 2008 3:47 pm

I just fell over an alleged identification of the "pagoda bearing (sic) King of Heaven Li Ching" with Indra. Has the pagoda been mooted as a derivation of discharge 'figures'? Sorry if I am a few milennia behind.

Would you care to expand a bit on that? Are you thinking: outline of pagoda and outline of a plasma formation in the lab, a la the squatting man?

Spot on. Take a cross sectional vertical cut. Looks good to me!

Samrtart ,that is one of the interpretations of this visual form ,that it is a mnemonic remnant of the polar configuration/plasma instability.

I agree. You would have to look into the evolution of pagoda design to find out what the earliest looked like.

WOW "According to Buddhist scripture, when Sakyamuni's body was cremated after his death, his disciples discovered that his remains crystallized into unbreakable shiny beads." (Sakyamuni said to have founded Buddhism.)

Synchronicity: The book that gave me the idea directs enquiry into myths about great leaders to see if they are cosmic in nature! Here we get 'cremation' and beads! Nice.

I've just done a quick google and it seems that the Chinese pagoda is a relatively late thing. They don't seeem to go back much beyond the current era. Also there are a variety of styles in terms of number of sides and stories.
They appear to be Buddhist so they will anyway only date to c. 500BCE at the ealiest.
Back to the drawing board I'm afraid.

Why is Buddhism an uncrossable barrier? The Cross preceded 'Christ'.

Because, as I understand it, the pagoda is a specifically Buddhist thing, i.e. Hindus and Shintoists (for example) don't use them. Having said that, I have no idea what, if any, is the difference between a pagoda and a 'temple' (common or garden type).

Pagoda is Stupa in original form. This link explains origin and instructions for its specific construction:

From the link provided by Soulsurvivor @ http://www.exoticindiaart.com/article/stupa
In the traditional view, a building needs to satisfy both the physical and metaphysical needs of man. As an expression of artistic intent, it will elaborate upon the manner in which phenomenal world relates to the spiritual one. Architecture being by nature three-dimensional is eminently suitable to act as a metaphor, since any construct is bound to be rooted in the phenomenal world, and then must begin the ascent to the Higher levels.
Nowadays it's all about real-estate and property prices. Oh, how we have progressed from those primitive ancient times.

Chinese legendary goings-on in the sky, including fiery falls, and a chap with a 'golden pagoda'.

Nice link. The concept of a 'Ministry of Fire' cracked me up. Talk about bureaucracy gone mad.
