This sounds very similar to the description of a breakdown of a double sheath leading to a solar flare & CME.
Thinking about similarities over orders of magnitude, is a supernova really a super solar flare/CME?

2nd question : If there were planets within that stars heliosphere, might (if they had one) their
own magnetic field deflect the 'charge' around them similar to our own planet does to energies from
our sun - or would they turn crispy?
