Well... they didn't actually use the words "electrical current."
I was researching Jupiter's moons and found that the Galileo orbiter took a near-IR spectrograph of Europa and consequently titled the findings as "Energy From Above Affecting Surface of Europa." The images show a very peculiar pattern of energy, in which the trailing hemisphere of Europa's orbit is very active and rich in sulfuric acid from the "bombardment of charged particles" where the leading hemisphere receives fewer charged particles and nearly no sulfuric acid.
The units of the NIMS map is in electron volts per square centimeter per second and they made the following correlation; "The concentration is closely related to the amount of energy received from electrons and sulfur ions striking the surface, with a distribution controlled by interactions between Jupiter and Europa's magnetic fields."
I feel they're so close but refuse to stop looking through their gravity dominant lens.
