Biggest problems according to mainstream scientists

Has science taken a wrong turn? If so, what corrections are needed? Chronicles of scientific misbehavior. The role of heretic-pioneers and forbidden questions in the sciences. Is peer review working? The perverse "consensus of leading scientists." Good public relations versus good science.

I agree. They seem to not recognize that these are symptoms of flawed thinking that is much more fundamental than they have indicated here. And the motivation underlying it all is intellectual laziness. Specifically, scientific institutions in many disciplines have dumbed down fundamental truths because doing so makes the discipline appear more credible to a wider audience. In other words, in the interest of popular appeal we have created myths that compromise reality. Scientific methods are abandoned because they don't provide the answer we want them to provide. In their place we get pseudoscientific methods that rely on authority and seek consensus. Empirical truth is considered only when and where it doesn't conflict with popular appeal.
