Re: what is the thunderbolts favicon?
Hi all,
Yes, I get that (sort of a green h combined with an m) favicon with Mozilla (3.5.3) but not with IE. I also get it with Safari 4.0.4!

Re: Tech Support
Hmmm, seems there's lots of different "generic" favicon defaults, I've just had a look in my Firefox and get a simple image of a page. The "hm" one could be generic to phpbb3? Dunno but I suppose I may formulate a site icon so that we do have our own which would be displayed.
Thanks for bringing it up Matt, you've got me thinking now...
Cheers, Dave.

The Great Dog,
Thank you for the howl.
Also, thanks to StefanR, who started the ball rolling and did the behind the scenes work, searching out and gathering the threads.
We knocked down the Planetary Science board from 19 pages down to 4, not bad! It is amazing how many threads were repeats of the same topics several months apart.
I like to think of it as spring cleaning, though for our friends down under, it would be autumn cleaning

Re: Tech Support
I was wondering if it would be possible to have the Polling option enabled
on the TB site, if it is installed?
I think there may be a lot of members who may not be prepared to post messages,
but who would express an opinion anonymously through polling. I have set up
polling on a phpBB site, and it will allow guests to vote too, using a one
vote per I.P. number, so I think it would be fairly representative.
Maybe we could take a vote on it?

Erroneous forum subscription emails?
I seem occasionally to receive one of the automatically-generated notification emails for a forum to which I've subscribed, even if nothing has apparently changed. As an example, just this morning I received this email:
Now, when I go and look at this forum, I think there have been no recent posts. And furthermore, "p=52449" doesn't even seem to be a valid post number within this thread.
I observe this behavior to occur occasionally; does anyone have any ideas as to it's origin? Maybe I'm missing something? Or could this be an error occurring within the PHP code underlying this version of phpBB?

(As I preview this message, the URL is coming up as partially masked, but I think that's just because its within the same forum domain and directory; in the actual email, the full link is included - which anyway you can see if you hover over the link above.)Hello MosaicDave,

Re: Erroneous forum subscription emails?
Firstly Dave, you must be subscribed to the thread concerned to receive such a notice. At the bottom of every thread, there's a "Subscribe topic" box you can check to get such notifications. You probably already know this, but some here may not.MosaicDave wrote:I seem occasionally to receive one of the automatically-generated notification emails for a forum to which I've subscribed, even if nothing has apparently changed. I think the reason you're getting the notification but not finding a post, is that there's been a spammer deleted. Part of the daily chores of admins/mods is deleting the accounts and posts of those who only sign up and post to spam the boards. The moment one of us notices them, we usually deal with them immediately by banning and deleting the user, and deleting any posts they've made. So what happens is that you receive a notice that the topic has had a post, but when you go there there's no new post. It's been deleted along with the user who posted it.
As I said, this a daily chore for myself, and I imagine so for the other mods too. People just don't realize how frequently we get these spam posts, as they're usually dealt with fairly quickly.
Cheers, Dave.

WHAT?!..No one told me about this!!!..This opens up a whole new field of distraction! I will get email!!! Mail, communication, showing that someone cares! A reaching out to me, delivering information, reassuring me, and dare i say it, virtual love.At the bottom of every thread, there's a "Subscribe topic" box you can check to get such notifications.
reminds me....time for lunch...maybe a spam sandwich!..Part of the daily chores of admins/mods is deleting the accounts and posts of those who only sign up and post to spam the boards.
thanks for the email!...
