Spiraling light phenomen in Norway

Beyond the boundaries of established science an avalanche of exotic ideas compete for our attention. Experts tell us that these ideas should not be permitted to take up the time of working scientists, and for the most part they are surely correct. But what about the gems in the rubble pile? By what ground-rules might we bring extraordinary new possibilities to light?

Spiraling light phenomen in Norway

Unread post by paravolt2 » Wed Dec 09, 2009 3:56 am

Today - on December 9th 2009 a new spiraling light phenomen was seen on the sky of Northern Norway - previously unseen as far as I know. It was observed by thousands of people on their way to job in the morning and several took exelent pictures of it and some even film.

It was a rapid moving spiraling light spinning around for 2 or 3 minutes leaving a trail of glowing fog behind and eventually explodes and disappeared.

Could it be a new plasma discharge phenomen.

Some more reports on this phenomen:

Could it be a z-pinch effect of Birkeland-current?

Hm, difficult to say. Current quotes in Norwegian newspapers are like "It's likely a Russian test rocket", and at the same time "Njet, we know nothing about this" from the Russians. Here are some more casual observer images:

What is strange, on the videos, is that the spiral itself is rotating. If it was a rocket trail, it would remain more or less static, eventually blurring out. Have no idea about how authentic these videos/photos are though.

The images are authentic. They are from all different sources and lay people using their cellphones etc to capture this.

I think we here deal with a plasma - z-pinch effect and a glow-charged Birkeland-current

The Great Dog sees the spiral as an imposed artifact. Other images simply show a smear of blue cloud. As far as "authentic" is concerned, the Great Dog knows that there are authentic images of Jesus in a piece of toast. Does that mean it is Jesus?

Image

I don't think that's an artifact. There are several images with the spiral in them and witnesses described the spiral in motion. The various images were taken at different times during the morphology of this phenomenon. Some images even show the spiral energy continuing past the end of the blue column, through a cloud and creating a spiral cloud all the way to the ground.

That's a wicked awesome plasma discharge column. The center of the grey spiral looks a lot like the center of a spiral galaxy and Peratt's PIC simulations. It also looks like something from Symbols of an Alien Sky. 8-)

Whilst I think it's "interesting" I'd not be too quick to jump to ANY explanation until more is known about it. For my money, it looks too 'perfect' to be a natural phenomenon, and it is likely to be man-made whether an artifact or not. The most telling thing for me is that it appears to come from the ground, rather than from the air. I would not be at all surprized to find some university students playing at a very good hoax...

Cheers, Dave.

Aurora, Rocket, or something else?

Unread post by junglelord » Wed Dec 09, 2009 9:25 am

I saw this today on NASA SPACE WEATHER
http://spaceweather.com/
This morning in Norway, people saw a strange and still-unexplained phenomenon. Eye-witness Nick Banbury of Harstad reports: "We are used to seeing lots of auroras here in Arctic Norway, but on my way to work this morning I saw something completely unexpected. Between 7:50 and 8:00 a.m. local time, there was a strange light in the sky," shown here in a photo taken by Jan Peter:
http://spaceweather.com/swpod2009/09dec ... 8iqo2crjh0
"It consisted initially of a green beam of light similar in colour to the aurora with a mysterious rotating spiral at one end," continues Banbury. "This spiral then got bigger and bigger until it turned into a huge halo in the sky with the green beam extending down to the earth. According to the press, this could be seen all over northern norway and must therefore have been very high up in the atmosphere to be seen hundreds of km apart."

"[A popular] suggestion at the moment is that it was a rocket shot up by a Russian submarine in the white sea, but the Russians deny this apparently. A big mystery indeed!"

What mystery? This is obviously the Bat-Light. Bruce Wayne is in Norway and the Norwegian police need his help.

Strange Lights over Norway

Check out spaceweather.com and this direct link:

It looks like the Axis Mundi.

Electric? Man Made?
What's with the spiral? Very neat in any case.

Comments?

In the picture on Spaceweather.com this thing seems to be coming from behind the mountains. Folllow the line of the blue spiral from top-left to bottom-right. There appears top be a light source just visible on the crest of the mountins at that point.
The white spiral does not appear to have depth but that could be just the quality of the photo.

Anyone know what direction we are looking, other than North? Is it inside or outside the aurora borealis? Anything reported from Sweden, Lapland etc? Or Canada, Alaska? Or antipodal to Norway?

Why would the Russians choose to launch in the rush-hour rather than in the midlle of the night when fewer people would see the after effects? Or the middle of the day when the after effects would not be as visible?

I think the atmospheric conditions were just right for the observation of what are common electrical events that we don't normally see. That hill has lots of pointy peaks, probably just a good grounding area. The fact that this event looks like some petroglyphs or ancient sun symbols would suggest that these things have happened throughout history, but I wonder if they were more prominent in times when the Sun was undergoing some disturbance?
